What You Can Do To Help Wildlife In Your Community

Winter is a difficult time for waterfowl and shore birds. After a major snowstorm or when there is long-standing snow, you can offer swans, geese and ducks the following inexpensive foods:

Game bird crumbles
Non-medicated chicken laying pellets
Dried corn - whole or cracked
Raw chopped greens - spinach, kale, lettuce
Grated carrots or carrot peelings
Please do not offer these birds BREAD!  Bread has very little nutritional value.  Feeling full, the birds will not forage for the nutritional foods they need to survive.
