If,
after reviewing the baby bird or mammal "flowcharts"
(links above), you have determined that this baby DOES need the
help of a rehabilitator, please do the following.......
CONTACT
A WILDLIFE REHABILITATOR IMMEDIATELY. In lower Fairfield County,
Connecticut, contact us at 888-727-ORPHAN. In other areas of CT,
call the wildlife advisory hotline (203) 389-4411 for advice or
referrals to the rehabilitator near you. Outside of Connecticut,
click on the graphic below:

DON'T TOUCH
the animal with your bare hands. Use gloves, towel, etc.
KEEP CHILDREN
and PETS AWAY from the animal! This is a wild animal, not a zoo
animal. Your presence causes stress and stress can and
will kill this animal. Keep in mind that even very small
animals may bite when frightened.
DO NOT FEED
the animal. Give water only at the direction of a rehabilitator.
Keep the
animal confined in a SAFE, WARM, DRY, DARK and QUIET area. Put
them in a well ventilated container that is appropriate for the
animal's size. This will minimize movement in case of injury.
Give them a clean towel or old T-shirt to snuggle in and
make them feel more secure.
